Delicious and fun place. Pretty venue. Amazing delicious eggs, pancakes, french toast -- portions are so large they hang over the edge of your plate. The best parts are Joey's homemade maple syrups and honey, which are spectacular. Joey is usually there serving customers and bantering -- nice guy who runs a great place.

HUGE portions!! You might want to consider splitting a meal!! Try the maple syrup in your coffee instead of sugar!! Food is wholesome and fresh!! The service is friendly and the art is amazing!! Limited seating inside but outdoor seating is available during the summer months!!

Wow! Great food! My husband and I both ordered a sandwich. I had turkey - real turkey, not sliced junk luncheon meat - REAL turkey. Piled so high with veggies and then add some cheese. The veggies were home grown and so good. It was so much, I had to get a to go box. Oh, I almost forgot... The roll was homemade too. Best sandwich ever! Visited with the owner who was really a nice guy and did everything from take the order, prepare the food, serve it and then clean up after. He makes breads, and all sorts of pastries to sell and his prices on maple products are really good. By the way, my husband had prime rib on his sandwich and it was great too. Lady next to us had a Monte Cristo and it sure looked good too. Another couple was eating a brownie and it was almost as big as a loaf of bread and they sad it was delish. Nothing compares to this place. We're going back again!

My friend who owns the local Swanton Motel took me to Joey's for breakfast. Wow! Egg orders are made with three eggs, homemade country sausage patty is huge, and you get a choice of homemade bread for your toast. Wish I was there long enough to try Joey's lunch menu but I have no doubt it is awesome too. And don't forget to stock up on Joey's delicious maple syrup that he makes from his own maple tree farm. Great looking homebaked pies, pastries, and bread for sale. Treat yourself and go there.

Tasty homemade breakfast fare, obscene portions, fresh maple syrup, poutine and funky art all housed in an adorable wood cabin complete with garden and outdoor patio. A little slice of VT heaven.

Just a few miles south of the Canadian border, just of I89 and a little east of Lake Champlain. If you're in the area, you must stop especially if you haven't eaten for a while. Slightly eccentric and completely charming. My favorite is the wholewheat pancake with the homemade sausage and eggs. I'm a big guy, and it's good for an all-day kind of meal. Great coffee. Original artwork all over the place, great people. They're open until February - closed Mondays - (802) 868-7600

We're feeling in the minority reading the reviews, but here goes. Stopped at Joey's on a whim while traveling through VT. We always visit the local eateries when traveling, avoiding the chains if at all possible. It looked good from the outside. Staff was very friendly and chatty and welcomed us into the three-table dining area. The restaurant/store is lined with items for sale from their fresh breads and sweets to local artwork. It's a small dining area and the bread ovens are nearby, filling the place with a great aroma of fresh breads. We each ordered the potato breakfast, and the server "warned" us about the generous portions we should expect. Breakfast was indeed generous, served in dishes that are the size of chargers. The potato breakfast consisted of eggs, meat, potatoes and veggies. The homemade sausage was very good, but blackened/burned on the bottom which was too bad, as the sausage itself was well seasoned and well prepared. The bacon was somewhere between overcooked, incinerated and not cooked at all (depending on where you bit into it). The potatoes consisted of what appeared to be French fries. Don't get me wrong, they were very well prepared French fries, but not what I expected with breakfast. The eggs... mine were scrambled, and appeared to be hard cooked eggs chopped up to look scrambled. My wife's were over easy and they were... let's see, the yolk was cold to the touch (as in right out of the refrigerator cold), a small part of the white was cooked, and the rest was just liquid. Raw, uncooked egg white. (I didn't believe my wife and thought she was being picky but I checked and yes, the white was uncooked and the yolk was absolutely cold and uncooked). She hid the eggs under the pile of fries and we finished our meal. We purchased a loaf of fresh bread, a breast of cinnamon bread and maple syrup. The syrup is excellent. Absolutely great. The bread was very good, but I have had much better at places like Big Sky ( mainebread.com ) in Maine. The cinnamon bread was so hard by the time we got it home that we had to throw it away. If you want an eclectic eating experience with some really interesting, nice local folks and interesting artwork, you should stop in. Everyone is very friendly and chatty and you'll enjoy yourself. I would skip the food, have some coffee and buy some bread and syrup and then be on your way. We travel often and so rarely encounter a really bad meal at this kind of local venue that we were genuinely shocked and just really disappointed.

Huge food served by hugely friendly folks. Do yourself a favor and fast first, though.

Saw this place just driving by- looked like fun and we were not disappointed. BIG portions, delicious food, and great staff. The owner was out and about chatting with all the customers- felt like we knew him forever, but really we had just met. This place also is an art gallery with nice reasonable priced art. I highly recommend for some in looking for a unique dining experience!

What a breakfast! Delicious home made maple breakfast sausage. Local eggs and home made pastries, breads and deserts. We found this on yelp on our way south from Montreal. We will certainly look for a reason to come this way again!
